Thappad trailer was launched on January 31, 2020. The film stars Taapsee Pannu and is directed by Anubhav Sinha. Domestic violence is a very serious issue which exists in our society even today. Marital rape not being considered a crime is still ignorance on the society’s part. Bollywood terms this type of violence as love in the films.
In Kabir Singh, many people slammed Shahid Kapoor as he slapped the girl he loved in the film. Thappad deals with this kind of thinking of people. Taapsee plays the role of a wife who has a perfect married life. One fine day, she is slapped by her husband out of frustration and this makes her question her relationship. Everyone around her convinces her that these things happen but she is firmly determined to take a stand against it.
It hardly matters whether you are watching this movie from a male or female perspective. The woman stands up for those who have faced physical or mental abuse of any type. The way the story has been treated will remind you of the courtroom drama “Mulk”. The subject matter of both the stories are entirely different from each other but the impact of their trailers is hard to miss.
Taapsee has acted out very impressively in portraying the struggle to cope up with this rage and also trying to understand why the society has accepted a slap like a norm which is blindly followed by all. The movie is said to be a response to Sandeep Reddy Vanga film Kabir Singh.
