Kiara Advani is all set to star in Guilty – a Netflix movie. The film is the project of Dharma Production’s new digital content wing, Dharmic. The film is directed by Ruchi Narain and written by Kanika Chouhan and Atika Dhillon. Guilty Trailer showcases Kiara Advani portraying the role of Nanki, the songwriter of a college band featuring her along with three boys.
The group is having a good time of their lives until one night when Nanki’s boyfriend and bandmate, VJ (Gurfateh) is accused of rape. Thereafter there is an investigation and public trial of what has actually happened that evening. The question arises whether it was a rape or consensual sex. Has VJ been wrongly accused or he is an upper class English medium brat who got what he wanted as he is shown to be?
Will Nanki trust her boyfriend and be on his side? As the news spreads, the case gains sensation and friendships and loyalties are tested. The movie has themes like victim-blaming, sexual consent, mental and emotional well-being, who is the real accused and so on.
Between VJ, Nanki and the accuser, there is a truth which is hidden. Guilty is a recent addition to thrillers like Article 375, Itteffaq and Hotstar’s web series Criminal Justice.
Ruchi Narain has written stories for films like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and Calcutta Mail and has also directed Hanuman Da’ Damdaar and Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow.
