The second season of the Wrong Number Web Series is streaming on RVCJ’s YouTube channel. It is a continuation of the static and eventful love story of Karan and Khushi. Khushi is trying to patch up with her school time boyfriend Rajat but he never cares to reply to her. After two years all these messages get diverted to Karan’s phone who does not know what to do and seeks advice from his college friend cum roommate.
Shukla tells him to respond to Khushi in Rajat’s name and slowly their conversation starts converting into long messages. However, Khushi’s friend Ruchi decides to call Karan in the name of another person as she senses something wrong. Karan gets exposed. Khushi is very hurt and sad and stops responding to Karan’s message until Shukla’s advice works for them. Finally, they talk over the call.
Wrong Number Season 2 starts with the much-awaited conversation between Khushi and Karan. Karan apologizes to her for whatever happened without making any kind of excuse. Ruchi is still not in favour of Khushi’s connection with Karan. Khushi at the end sets up a meeting in the cafe with Ruchi, Karan and Shukla. The ice between the couple melts and Ruchi and Shukla also develop an interest in each other and things work out quite smoothly. The things get awkward whenever the topic of Rajat arises in their love story Khushi freezes and is unable to make any move forward. Ruchi finally meets Karan and Shukla in order to make things clear about Rajat. Wrong Number Season 2 will focus on what happened between Khushi and Rajat.
Wrong Number Web Series is filled with conversations and speed and the conversation is such where background music speaks more than words with perfect expressions. The script of the second season is not very special. It is a simple and normal story. However, simplicity is well fitted in the plot these days and these stories become very common. It is sometimes more difficult to script reality than imagination.
Apoorva Arora who is the female lead of the series becomes quite boring at some places. Her dialogue delivery is dynamic and good but her reactions and expressions could have been different than portrayed. Badri Chavana is really good in giving us a resourceful and slightly comic character of Shukla. He brought out the character of a guy who could list out the advantages of the mass bunk in college and present it in the form of PPT to the professors.
Anjali Barot is a good actress and has shined more than the leads with her performance. Ambrish Verma is an actor who has ruled the show with his timely delivery and non-overtly expressions. How he suppresses his emotions and lets them out only after things become better is something to watch out for.
Rohan Rohan has given the background score for the Wrong Number Season 2 and it sets the mood of the show very well. Besides action, even during contemplation music is like a vanilla essence to the cupcake love story.
Jay Kulkarni has done an excellent job as DOP. He balanced lights and shades very well which makes cafe meets and real date look beautiful. Special effects for credit slides and title screens are also different in a nice way. Editing by Lavesh Rampurkar is very crisp and sharp. The visuals of Wrong Number celebrate simplicity at its best.
Sumit Kumar has directed the Wrong Number Web Series in a detailed manner. The scenes when students come out of the exam hall to fetch their bags discussing papers and every action taken by characters is very minutely detailed. Shukla’s character is defined very well in the series.
He has chosen Civil Engineering as his subject and breaks down the problems in his life through presentations either on whiteboard or PPT. The sole motto of an engineer is presenting his point no matter what the spelling is. When everything is explained in detail, the number becomes nambar and Khushi becomes Khushy. As long as the listener understands the crux, nothing else matters.
A little more interactions between Ruchi and Shukla could have added spice to the love smoothie. However, the series is directed very well with a lot of passion in simplicity and somewhat predictable flavour.
