Usually, when a girl goes on a bachelorette, she goes with her girlfriends, like in The Trip, however, The Holiday web series is unlike any other bachelor or bachelorette series before as it involves a girl taking a trip with her bride squad. Her three boy best friends, who will remind you of the characters from ZNMD decide to be her trip buddies as she has no close girlfriends. The journey of four friends in a series that low key feels like a pitch for Mauritius tourism is light and breezy.
When in Mauritius, the group obviously does the ‘bachelor’ things- drink, party, dance, go around on adventures. Their trip is marred by a few setbacks- which more often than not involve them vacating hotels- that proves to be comic. The Holiday web series takes you on a light, fun-filled journey of four friends and their dynamics. And even though the concept of a bachelor trip overseas is not new, a girl and three boys enjoying it, add the fresh zest.
The friendships explored in The Holiday Season 1 are familiar and relatable- be it telling ghost stories, playing pranks, delving in nostalgia.
Adah (Mehek), Veer (Kabir), Priyank (Patrick) and Aashim (Armaan) are flawless in their portrayal of different quirks and habits and are impressive and engaging as characters, though they lack depth. The web series balances the travel aspect of the story with the main plot. And even though it does seem marketed, the way Mauritius has been explored in the web series gives serious travel goals. However, the trip quickly turns into a pain for Mehak who feels like she is not being given enough attention and things so not remain as breezy when they return from the trip, back to reality. It is then we peek into the complications into each of their lives and their individual ways of dealing with those issues.
