No one’s life seems easy to them- Bachelors or Stags are no different. Stags Web Series star cast has Ankur Pathak, Chandan Anand and Pawan Sabharwal, it is directed by Sahil Verma and written by Anubhav Parsheera. The web series features on The Timeliners.
Let me point out in the very beginning that a feminist critique of this will find Stags very problematic. From the very first scene where the stags are looking for ‘ladkiyan’ and randomly asking a woman to be their date, you know that it is a ‘boys show’. So we will not go into that area here. If you can ignore the obvious male victim narrative, you actually might enjoy the show. It basically explores the life of three stags/bachelors/single boys Vicky, Harpal and Gagan, getting into trouble; they are based in Delhi NCR. Most of the jokes are based on how ‘single’ their life and from the very beginning we get the impression that they are horny. The actors have good chemistry among themselves and the comic timing is almost impeccable. One can see that the production of the web series has some value and it has been shot well.
There are two smart or ‘normal’ ones in the group and one quintessential anomaly at whose expense most jokes are played, and it works every time. The dialogues are written in a way that they will keep you hooked to the storyline. Most working millennials, especially bachelors living alone, away from their home will relate to the show- restricting the audience to a niche.
