Bang Baaja Baaraat Season 1 is a five-episode mini web series from Y-films, a subsidiary of Yash Raj Films. It is available on YouTube and is from the house of one of the most respected and prominent filmmakers of India. The title of the web series is very clever and a direct pun to the hit movie of YRF, Band Baaja Baaraat.
Bang Baaja Baaraat Season 1 starts when both the lead actors meet each other’s parents and introduce them to each other only two days before the wedding. Thereafter, we see a hilarious clash of cultural misunderstanding between Shahana’s modern family and Pawan’s conservative family. The misunderstanding also arises because of the generation gap between Shahana – Pawan and their parents.
Shehnaaz Patel as Shahana’s mother has some really memorable scenes with her onscreen daughter which will remind you of your bond with your mother. The dialogues are not pretentious and are very honest and real-life interactions which one can have with their parents. Some of the character plots are left unfinished which do not lead us to anywhere like Ranjeet who plays Pawan’s father.
YRF has now moved on from big budget and big cast movies to small budget movies without compromising on quality. The digital media has gained a lot of importance than TV and will continue to do so as long as quality shows are produced by makers.
