Marzi, an original web series by Voot Select is a thriller that leaves you with many questions after each episode. The series stars Aahana Kumra and Rajeev Khandelwal. Dr. Anurag’s (Rajeev) dinner date with a school teacher Sameera (Aahana) leads him to be accused of rape.
The details mentioned by Sameera starts getting shadier as she is recovering from depression after her parent’s death and is not taking her medications. Marzi is completely owned by the performances of Aahana Kumra and Rajeev Khandelwal who draw you to their side of the story.
Other characters played by versatile actors Vivek Mushran, Shivani Tanksale, Suhas Ahuja and Rajeev Siddharth also have their dark secrets and all of them hide something from each other. As the police investigation answers one question, another question pops up at the same time.
The series also mentions #MeToo movement. It closely looks at the problems a rape victim has to go through during police investigation and medical examination. The web series is set in Shimla but you do not get to witness the beautiful mountains.
The scenes are confined to school, hospital or houses. The background music sometimes makes it difficult for hearing the dialogues. If we keep aside the shortcomings, writer Radhika Anand and director Anil has done a tight screenplay of the series.
