halahal movie review

Dr Shiv Shankar Sharma played by Sachin Khedekar is highly doubtful of the untimely death of is daughter which is declared to be a suicide by the police. Will he be able to find out the truth behind his death is what the movie is all about.

The story is set in Ghaziabad and is about Archana played by Enab Kezra who is a medical student and gets hit by a tuck. Later, her body is found on the side of Ghaziabad highway. The UP police calls it an open and shut suicide case. However, her father Dr. Shiv Shankar Sharma is of the belief that Archana cannot die like this.

His doubt forces him to investigate his death by taking the help of a corrupt police officer Yusuf Qureshi played by Barun Sobti. It can only be known after watching the movie whether the mystery can be solved by them or not. The gravity of the situation makes it impossible to get a closure for Dr. Sharma, especially when the post-mortem report is checked and everybody related to Archana comes under suspicion.

The police ask the grieving father to move on, especially when he is not satisfied. The future events can only tell whether it was a murder or a suicide. The debut film of director Randeep Jha shows a grieving father searching for the truth behind his daughter’s death which opens up a new chapter of political conspiracy. The crime thriller is suspenseful and the concept of Sandeep Gade is very unique.

The movie starts with a good pace which gives an interesting build-up for events to follow which involves the father-cop duo going through many methods for solving the case. The awesome performances and good casting works in the favour of the film. The film has been written by Zeeshan Qadri who has acted in Gangs of Wasseypur and Gibran Noorani. The movie copies the quick turn of events which happened during Vyapam admission racket in Madhya Pradesh.

The suspicion of high-level involvement and the mysterious death of suspects makes the narrative equally layered just like in real life. The movie becomes monotonous due to its weak execution. The story is good in the beginning but starts stretching towards the end. However, its unrealistic climax makes the story interesting again.

Sachin kedekar gives a wonderful and layered performance as a dejected father who is going through various emotions following his daughter’s death. His emotional breakdowns makes you sympathize with his character. Barun Sobti’s Haryanvi accent and body language are very good as it gets into the nerve of Yusuf’s character.

Both the actors give awesome performances which makes the charmless mystery thriller wtachable. The movie is a good pick if you love intense acting.
