Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari has a very orthodox approach with Madhu Mangal Rane played by Manoj Bajpayee has taken a pledge to remove all the lafangas from the life of future brides in Mumbai or Bombay and this count has been on the rise as 48 grooms have been exposed so far. However, the 49th groom becomes a bouncer in his life.
Duduwala, as called by the writers, Suraj Singh Dhillon played by Diljit Dosanjh is 28 and tries to model his life based on bad boys of Bollywood when Rane catches him red-handed and Suraj is left without a bride again. Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari Review shows the clash of these two men like children and it is a complete mad ride.
The characteristic trait that he could not give to his son Suraj Singh Dhillon is his inherent ability to win over girls. When the greedy pundit brings the kundali of English speaking and shorts-wearing girls of Bhandup the whole Dhillon clan is excited.
The question of who has defamed him and his family and which Bharatiya Nari will marry him now haunts Suraj. Suraj refuses to budge and plans on punishing the victim. The culprit is a self-acclaimed wedding detective, Madhu Mangal Rane who has broken 48 matches and is not aware of Suraj’s plans. The movie is a satire on the concept of arranged marriages and all the hopping which happens within families for one acha ladka and ladki which leaves us laughing.
The clash between two egoistic maniacs forms the crux of the film. Manoj Bajpayee looks hilarious in nauvari saree, nath and gives a charm which can be mistaken for an ultimate hottie. He is gossiping at a local temple in the opening scene and is a lame undercover wedding detective. The jokes are very local and the attitude is relatable.
She is a satisfying and attractive chameleon. She is rebellious when the going gets tough and demure when the situation is favourable. Diljit’s excellent dialogue delivery and comic timing make the stale jokes and flashy scenes bearable. His chemistry with Sukhi and fight with Bajpayee makes the film momentum great in the first half.
The first half takes us on a virtual tour of Rane and Dhillon family life and many characters and situations enter and exit the scene but in the second half at the end, the movie has a predictable climax which could have been more polished. Javed-Mohsin and Kingshuk Chakravarthy have given some amazing songs like Basanti, Bad Boys and Ladki Dramebaaz Hai. The set design is average.
The movie is a witty satire on gori kaali hangover which is a symbol of good and bad behaviour in today’s world and how less the astrologers know about marriages. The movie is a tug of war which can be enjoyed by all. We have compiled Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari Ratings from various sources for your convenience.
