Khaali Peeli has been loosely adapted from Taxiwala which starred Vijay Devarakonda. The movie fails to live up to the expectations of people. The movie has been released on Zee5 due to coronavirus lockdown and this was the best move the producers could have taken in these tough times.
Pooja asks Blackie to save her and offers him good money. However, Blackie decides to cheat her so that he can get more money from goons. The events which happen during this one-night car journey is the main story of the movie. Ishaan Khatter shines in the movie with his typical Mumbaiya look and slang.
He brings a lot of humour and entertainment in the film through his dialogue delivery. Ananya Pandey is average for the role as she is unable to crack the accent properly and cannot perform up to expectations of people. The first half of the movie is funny and situational comedy is also very neat. The narration keeps the audience engaged if not wholly then partly.
The film ends in a lot of hurry which brings down the fun element of the movie. The plot is very old and predictable. The music and BGM by Vishal Shekhar is also very disappointing. Satish Kaushik has acted well but his part looks forced and irritating to viewers. Khaali Peeli is a mass masala movie which is okay in the first half but is pretty stretchy in the second half.
The regular story and not so good screenplay takes down the movie and makes it an average watch. The comedy and performances by all except Ananya Pandey is good. The movie can be watched only if you have nothing to do otherwise it is conveniently skippable.
