Khaali Peeli Review – Khaali Peeli Ratings

Khaali Peeli has been loosely adapted from Taxiwala which starred Vijay Devarakonda. The movie fails to live up to the expectations of people. The movie has been released on Zee5 due to coronavirus lockdown and this was the best move the producers could have taken in these tough times.

Ishaan Khatter is in the role of a taxi driver Blackie in the movie. The union of taxis have called a strike but Blackie still runs his cab and is confronted by some drivers. He accidentally kills one of them and runs away. He meets Pooja featuring Ananya Pandey who is running away from the brothel where she has been residing since childhood.

Pooja asks Blackie to save her and offers him good money. However, Blackie decides to cheat her so that he can get more money from goons. The events which happen during this one-night car journey is the main story of the movie. Ishaan Khatter shines in the movie with his typical Mumbaiya look and slang.

He brings a lot of humour and entertainment in the film through his dialogue delivery. Ananya Pandey is average for the role as she is unable to crack the accent properly and cannot perform up to expectations of people. The first half of the movie is funny and situational comedy is also very neat. The narration keeps the audience engaged if not wholly then partly.

Satish Kaushik and Zakir Hussian have done their roles well. The night visuals of the movie have been portrayed well and the crazy nightlife of the city is shown beautifully. The second half of the movie becomes very flat and boring. The movie moves back and forth and after a period of time, it becomes a headache. The proceedings of the story do not go well with the leading pair as they try to keep up with the but fail completely.

The film ends in a lot of hurry which brings down the fun element of the movie. The plot is very old and predictable. The music and BGM by Vishal Shekhar is also very disappointing. Satish Kaushik has acted well but his part looks forced and irritating to viewers. Khaali Peeli is a mass masala movie which is okay in the first half but is pretty stretchy in the second half.

The regular story and not so good screenplay takes down the movie and makes it an average watch. The comedy and performances by all except Ananya Pandey is good. The movie can be watched only if you have nothing to do otherwise it is conveniently skippable.
