A few months ago actress vidya balan had expressed her immense desire to play the role of former India prime minister indira Gandhi. However these talks had eventually fizzled out due to authorization issues. The actress though has set her mind to it and has taken a step forward to fulfill her dream.
Vidya has acquired movie rights to portray the biography of one of indias most powerful prime ministers indira Gandhi on screen. Vidya said in a text message ” I’m happy to have acquired the rights to sagarika goshs indira, because I always wanted to play indira gandhi. I haven’t decided yet whether it should be a film
Or a web series but that will take a while anyway”.
This also opens new doors for the actress as it suggests that vidya might be starting her own production venture.
Ever since she delivered an outstanding film in the dirty picture, vidya has been approached by numerous biopics.
There were rumours that she was slated to play celebrated Carnatic singer m.s subbu Lakshmi and by her own admission she also wants to make a biopic of the famous yesteryear actress meena kumari. But none of the projects have taken off so far.
