Paresh Rawal has been appointed as the chairman of NSD or National School of Drama. The institute announced the news on their official Twitter account on 10th September 2020. The tweet was, “We are glad to inform Hon’ble President of India @rashtrapatibhvn has appointed renowned actor & Padma Shri @sirpareshrawal as chairman of @nsd_india. NSD family welcome the legend to shower his guidance to NSD for achieving new heights.”
Rawal is associated with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and started his acting journey in the eighties. He is known for his versatility and impressed all with his many award-winning performances as well as comedian and villain roles in different films. Rawal was given Padma Shri in 2014 and he won National Award in 1992 for Woh Chokri and Sir.
Some of his popular roles include films like Table No. 21, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Aitraaz, Tamanna, Naam, Shiva and OMG: Oh MY God!. he is loved for his comic roles in entertainers like Andaz Apna Apna, Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, Malamaal Weekly, Welcome, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? , Hungama, Hulchul, Aankhen, Awara Paagal Deewana, Chahchi 420 and Garam Masala among others.
