Pictures of Ranbir Kapoor and Mahira Khan smoking in New York, were the talk of the town lately, suspecting they were a couple now.
Ranbir had been shooting in the city a few months ago for the Sanjay Dutt biopic and the pictures were taken then and went viral in late September.
The actress was dishonoured for wearing a short dress and smoking, following which celebrities like Varun Dhawan, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Fazal, supported for her.
Ranbir Kapoor had reacted immediately when the pictures went viral by saying that it was unfair to judge Mahira for it and gave a cheeky response saying ‘both smoking and hate are injurious to health‘, Mahira had maintained silence on the pictures for too long.
The actress was briefly off social media to stay away from the negativity only to return a few days later.
Mahira finally reacted to the controversy by talking to a news channel, about the pictures while on a promotional event of her film ‘Verna.’
“I am a very careful person otherwise. People ask me that I do not do this in films (perhaps referring to smoking), I say I do not want to. Why should I do anything to show the world?” said, Mahira
She added, “It is my personal life and it is very normal for a boy and girl to hang out.”
She also spoke about the paparazzi culture by saying, “Nowadays, media is not only present at events but everywhere. So, I have learnt from it (the incident).”
