Wajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid jodi passed away today morning at the age of 42. He was suffering from COVID -19. He was a music composer, director and singer. He was also suffering from kidney problems and had undergone a kidney transplant a few months back. Wajid Khan has composed many songs filming Slaman Khan and the song Bhai Bhai was also composed by him.
Salim Merchant, music composer had confirmed the news of his death and told that Wajid had been hospitalized a few days ago at Surana Hospital, Chembur where his condition deteriorated further.
Salim said, “He had multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant a while ago. But recently he got to know about kidney infection… He was on the ventilator for the last four days, after his situation started getting worse. Kidney infection was the beginning and then he got critical.”
Sajid-Wajid entered into Bollywood through Salman Khan’s movie Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kiya in 1998. They worked together for many movies like Dabangg franchise, Garv, Partner, Tere Naam and Tumko Na Bhool Payenge.
Wajid has also performed for Salman Khan. He sang Mera Hi Jalwa and Fevicol Se for him. He also sang Chinta Ta Chita Chita for Akshay Kumar among others. Wajid had co-composed Salman’s songs Pyaar Karona and Bhai Bhai which were released on his YouTube channel and shot in Panvel farmhouse during lockdown.
Wajid along with his brother Sajid was a mentor on shows Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012. They have also composed IPL 4 theme song Dhoom Dhoom Dhoom Dhadaka sung by Wajid.
Vishal Dadlani, singer and composer paid his tribute on the sudden demise of Wajid and tweeted “Heartbroken. Both @SajidMusicKhan and @wajidkhan7 have been close & true friends. The kind who might see the light on and show up at our studio in the middle of the night just to meet and talk and share a laugh. Can’t believe Wajid and I will never speak again.”
Actress Parineeti Chopra wrote, “Every music session with him was memorable.” Priyanka Chopra also tweeted, “The one thing I will always remember is Wajid bhai’s laugh.” Harshdeep Kaur wrote, “My deep condolences to #WajidKhan Ji’s family. Still can’t believe that he is no more. Have always seen him smiling and spreading joy around him. Huge loss to the music industry.”
