As the release of Sanju gets closer to its date many secrets about it have been coming out. While fans still have to wait, Vidhu Vinod Chopra revealed that he initially wanted to cast Ranveer Singh for the role of Sanju.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra, “When he told me, I was like, ‘What’s there in Sanjay Dutt’s life that merits being made into a film?! It’s better you make a film about my life… how I left Kashmir as a young boy and struggled when I came to Bombay.’ (Laughs) I thought Raju and Abhijat (Joshi, Sanju’s co-writer) had lost their minds!”
He said that he thought Ranveer was the perfect choice for the role. But, Hirani was adamant about picking Ranbir and said he could fit the character better. In the end, Chopra was very impressed by his choice and is very excited about the release of the film
