Actress Surekha Sikri who is active in television, as well as Bollywood, had suffered a brain stroke on 8th September 2020 and has been admitted in the ICU. The actor is “critical but stable” according to her agent Vivek Sidhwani.
The agent said, “She suffered a stroke earlier today. She is in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Her parameters continue to be monitored closely. She is critical but stable. She was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai this afternoon.”
She has received three national awards and is active in television, theatres and Bollywood. She is well known for her performances in Mammo, Tamas, Zubeidaa, Salim Lange Pe Mat Ro and Tv serial Balika Vadhu.
She received a lot of positive acclaim for her role as a grandmother in the movie Badhaai Ho featuring Ayushmann Khurrana. She received a National Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film. The actress was not well at that time and received the award on a wheelchair.
ikri was last seen in Ghost Stories directed by Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap and Zoya Akhtar. She appeared in the section directed by Zoya Akhtar.
