Actor Sonu Sood has recently rescued 177 girls from Kerala and sent them to their homes in Odisha. The girls were airlifted from Kerala where they were stuck due to lockdown. Sonu was informed about the girls by a friend from Bhubaneswar and thought to help them out.
The source close to the actor said “The actor started the process by taking several permissions from the government to have Kochi and Bhubaneswar airports opened. A special aircraft has been called from Bangalore to airlift these 177 girls from Kochi who will be now taken to Bhubaneshwar so they can finally reunite with their families.”
He further added, “The flight duration from the village to Bhubaneswar is going to be two hours and soon after finishing their journey, the girls will be heading back home.” Amar Patnaik, Rajya Sabha MP thanked Sonu on Twitter for his “noble efforts.”
Patnaik wrote, “@SonuSood Ji, your helping the Odia girls to return safely from Kerala is commendable. Kudos to your noble efforts. It’s incredible to see how you are helping the needy reach their homes safely. More strength to you.”
The actor with his friend Neeti Goel has won the hearts of many Indian people due to his “Ghar Bhejo” initiative. He provided buses for workers stuck in Mumbai due to coronavirus lockdown. He transported workers to far off states like UP, Karnataka, Jharkhand and Bihar. He has also launched a toll-free helpline recently for helping migrants in reaching their homes.
