Actor Irrfan Khan’s mother Saeeda Begum passed away on 11th April 2020 at the age of 85. She was staying at Beniwal Kanta Krishna Colony in Jaipur. She belonged to the Nawab family of Tonk and was not keeping well for a long period of time.
The funeral was held on Saturday evening. The actor is in Mumbai and couldn’t fly to Jaipur to attend her last rites due to lockdown. The rites were performed by his brothers. The actor paid his last respects to his mother through video conferencing.
Saeeda Begum was a poet and hailed from anonly Muslim state of Rajasthan during pre-independence era Tonk. She had three sons: Salman, Imran and Irrfan. Her younger son Salman said, “My mother had been ill for some time. But suddenly her health deteriorated on Saturday morning. Recently, the mother had inquired about Irrfan bhai’s health.”
Only a few members of the family were able to attend the funeral at Chungi Naka graveyard due to restrictions of lockdown. Irrfan Khan has also been unwell since 2018 and was undergoing treatment for neuroendocrine tumour.
After returning back to India, he had shot for Angrezi Medium which starred Radhika Madan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepak Dobriyal in key roles.
