Prabhu Deva’s new release was brilliantly marketed and it created a superb excitement towards movie release. Shahid matured looks, music, dance, everything was packaged and projected in an exceptional manner. Box Office was all set towards a new addition to 100 crore club and yet another Prabhu Deva blockbuster. However R… Rajkumar turns out to be the biggest disappointment of the year. The movie highlighted the fact that packaging & projection can just deliver 1-2 days of business at the box office.
R… Rajkumar undoubtedly is the worst directorial venture by Prabhu Deva. The movie is quite an overdose of masala, repeated dialogues that sound disgusting after a point of time. Like most of the movies these days, there is hardly anything in the script which doesn’t help the product either. Shahid Kapoor portrays the role of ‘Romeo Rajkumar’ who knocks the door of dangerous drug mafia ‘Shivraj’ seeking employment opportunities. The entire movie revolves around a series of conflicts between Shahid and Sonu with some song numbers and overstretched fight sequences.
Shahid put everything he had into the movie & one really feels sorry for him. He portrays the character of mawali with utmost perfection and his dancing is unmatchable. But he simply doesn’t fit the character of a demolition man despite giving out his blood and sweat for the role. Sonu Sood & Ashish Vidyarthi justify their roles while rest has been ok to ignorable.
Music and dancing are the only savage grace for the movie otherwise it’s a complete washout.
