The perfect ‘dramatic’ love triangle.

Bebaakee Review has a background setting of beautiful Shimla and is a story of two friends cum business partners. Their personal beliefs and friendship is tested when both of them fall for the same fiery young woman which challenges their way of living. In the introductory scene, we see a royal palace with beautiful chandeliers and servants who roam in black tuxedos and gloves.

The household is a very influential one in Shimla which runs a reputed newspaper named United India. The household is very unique as the families reading are not related to each other by blood. The elder male members of both families are childhood friends who have a great amount of love and respect for each other.

The same applies to their sons Sufiyaan played by Kushal Tandon and Imtiaz featuring Karan Jotwani who are the future torchbearers of the reputable family business. Everything is challenged when a young and enthusiastic journalist Kaaiynaat featuring Shivjyoti Rajput smartly steals Imitiaz’s exclusive story and runs it as her own.

The angry Imitiaz not only buys the media house where Kaaiynaat works but fires her and makes sure that she is not hired anywhere else. Then begins a stereotypical love-hate relationship where the hero and the heroine start on the wrong note but eventually sparks fly between them. It, later on, becomes a love triangle with Imtiaz’s entry who ends up offering her a job in his own company.

This leads to a few more heated arguments between Sufiyaan and Kaaiynaat. Bebaakee tries to be very different from other web shows with Imtiaz continuously trying to win over Kaaiynaat. There are few high points of the show if we look at it objectively. The clashes between characters and one manship give in many plot twists to a very predictable story.

The family setup is very prim and proper where well-groomed men do business and are dressed in sharp outfits while the ladies who are very caring and have bright costumes are either silent spectators or they plan and plot minor politics. One woman is very sharp and the other one is naive and the third one is a typical doting mother who cannot do anything wrong.

Even in the office setup which seems like a news organization, there is no breaking news type of urgency in the air. Many things seem made up and cartoonish that they seem unreal and straight out of daily soap. The relieving factor amongst everything is the beautiful and foggy background of Shimla which gives some freshness to the narrative.

However, many scenes are shot indoors or digitally improvised. The original and background music of Bebaakee is very relieving to the ears. Kushal Tandon is suitable in his role as an egoistic head honcho of a reputed company. He aces the role with his looks and height but his dialogue delivery and performance are not very good. Hopefully, his character will evolve in the episodes which are yet to be released. Karan Jotwani is much better as he plays boyish and likable Imtiaz with balance.

Shivjyoti Rajput is confident and promising as an ever-enthusiastic journalist Kaaiynaat who knows how to stand on her ground amidst the powerful men. If we look at the supporting cast, versatile actors including Suchitra Pillai, Ananya Khare and Krutika Desai are made typical stereotypes.

Till now, only eight episodes of the series have been released and the final episode ends on a little tense note but it is not a cliffhanger. It is a very predictable story with the usual components of a love story with romance, hate and bromance. There is nothing bebaak about the series. We have compiled Bebaakee Ratings for your convenience.
