Mirzapur Season 2 is packed with a lot of guns, goons and gaalis. The lawlessness has become a rule of the place with everybody trying to get the throne of Mirzapur and human life has completely been sidelined. There is no change in the place except for the fact that more bloodshed and bodies are lined up. Munna featuring Divyendu Sharma is behind all these killings and it is a familiar card of Mirzapur.
Most of the killings, however, seem unnecessary and could have been avoided. But there is no thrill and fun on this land until political vendetta is high and pistols are being shot on every other opportunity. Mirzapur Season 2 starts from the place where the first season of the series has ended. It starts with more violence which grabs the audience’s attention.
As we can relate to the characters in Mirzapur Season 2, we can easily relate to their pain this time. The plot has been zeroed down to a point where revenge cannot be avoided and this time the battle is fought between the equals. The bylanes of the politically charged town of UP gives a rustic realism and flavour to the series. The scenes have been effectively brought to life by DOP Sanjay Kapoor.
Guddu’s track at times feels to be dragged. Divyendu Sharma has a gala time playing Munna once again a spoilt child and a person responsible for all the wrongdoings of Mirzapur. The excess in his character feels somewhat unreal at times. The cast has some of the very strong performers like Rajesh Tailang, Anjum Sharma, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and seasoned actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda who plays the role of Bauji with perfection.
Kharbanda is great as the patriarch of the family who talks less but speaks more with his presence. The season shows women with more scope and power. Some of them are burning with anger while others are on the borderline. Rasika Dugal is great in her portrayal as a restrained woman who always fights with the male members of the family. Harshita Gaur, Shweta Tripathi and Sheeba Chaddha bring out the inner strength and vulnerability of their characters very well. The casting by Casting Bay is perfect.
