Dolly Kitty aur Woh Chamakte Sitare takes us back to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s films. Although there is nothing sweet and subtle about Dolly or her cousin Kitty’s life but the aspirations, dreams and hopes of both the women are similar to what Hrishikesh Da has portrayed in the 70s and 80s about middle-class India.
After she walks out of a job from a shoe factory, she becomes Kitty the voice on a dating app.
Bhumi Pednekar as Kajal/Kitty and Konkona Sen Sharma as Dolly have delivered good performances. Besides that, Aamir Bashir portrayal of a reckless husband Amit is done to the core and Amol Parashar is a smiling delivery boy who does Dolly’s household chores like fixing an air-conditioner and giving her a lift. Kubra Sait as Shazia teaches Kitty how to move through a big city life boldly. Vikrant Massey as Pradeep shows how a guy despite being married can fall in love once again and in this process, he breaks the heart of Kitty who loves him truly.
