Actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his sixth-floor apartment in Bandra, Mumbai. The police have confirmed that he has died by suicide but no suicide note was found at his place. DCP Pranay Ashok of Mumbai Police said, “Sushant Singh Rajput has committed suicide, Mumbai Police is investigating.”
The actor was known for his stellar performance in films like MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Chhichhore, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, Kai Po Che!, Shuddh Desi Romance and Kedarnath among others. He started his career as a television actor in popular daily soap Pavitra Rishta.
The team of the actor posted a message for his fans “It pains us to share that Sushant Singh Rajput is no longer with us. We request his fans to keep him in their thoughts and celebrate his life, and his work like they have done so far. We request media to help us maintain privacy at this moment of grief.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the actor’s death by tweeting, “A bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans.”
The death of Sushant Singh Rajput comes few days after his former manager Disha Salian committed suicide by jumping off her building. Rajput has expressed his shock in social media and conveyed his condolence to her. There might be a connection between their suicides.
Anurag Kashyap tweeted, “Wtf .. this is not true.” Akshay Kumar had written, “Honestly this news has left me shocked and speechless…I remember watching #SushantSinghRajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it. Such a talented actor…may God give strength to his family.”
The family of the actor is unable to accept that he has committed suicide and are suspecting a foul play. They have asked for a CBI investigation from Patna DSP to confirm the real reason for his death. His last movie is Dil Bechara, the release of which had been postponed due to COVID 19.
