Shah Rukh Khan has announced many initiatives on 29th May 2020 to help those who have been severely affected by cyclone Amphan in West Bengal. The actor took the help of Kolkata Knight Riders and an NGO Meer Foundation for helping people come out of devastation due to cyclone in the state.
The cyclone has claimed about 98 lives till now. The actor wrote on Twitter “Kolkata, with unity comes strength and resilience. Let”s get through this together and help out those affected by Amphan.” The actor said that KKR and Meer Foundation have contributed to West Bengal CM’s Relief Fund.
He said that KKR Sahayata Vahan will give essential ration and hygiene items for the severely affected areas. They will also rebuild the homes and lives of many acid attack victims. They will also replant 5000 saplings under KKR Plant A6 initiative. Shah Rukh wrote a note where he said that Kolkata is more than a city for him.
He said, “In Kolkata, I have found friendship, love, I have found joy… but beyond everything, what I have learnt is the importance of unity and teamwork.” He further added that the city is an emotion for him. The actor said that Kolkata will come out of this crisis with unity.
“Personally, I feel my journey with the Kolkata Knight Riders has served as a metaphor for life and its ups and downs. There have been good and bad days at Eden Garden, but at the end of the day, we all stood together in the stadium in hope and belief of Korbo…Lorbo…Jeetbo.”
He further wrote, “Today as we face these turbulent times, my experience and learnings teach me that there is strength in standing strong together as a team – United and brave. To fight together and win.”
