Medicine Students की life झंड है। सच!

Operation MBBS is about the journey of three medical students Nishant, Huma and Sakshi who want to become doctors. It is not a cakewalk for them and they become great friends and each other’s support system.

They also give direction to the canteen owner’s son Akash who wants to become a doctor despite his father’s disapproval. Their happy times at the canteen, classroom and hostel come to a halt when they break up their ties. This break-up makes them realize the kind of bond they share.

The lead actors Ayush Mehra, Sarah Hashmi and Anshul Chauhan have a good on-screen bond as friends but the writing and characterization does not fit them. There is no newness in their performance, expression or situation. Geetanjali Kulkarni is in a short role which is a relief for all. Deepak Simwal has a good screen presence that strikes an emotional chord.

The web series is all about a good time pass during social distancing and nothing more than that. The problems, vibes and characters have been shown to us time and again in different films and web series. There is nothing genuine in the show. It is a mixture of Munnabhai MBBS and 3 Idiots with minor script changes without any depth or wit.

Nishant is like Madhavan’s role in 3 Idiots who does not want to become a doctor and is pushed in the profession by his parents. He feels that he will be criticized or judged because his father is a famous writer of an MBBS textbook.

Huma also has a similar background. She is raised by an ambitious mother who is raised by a single mother and gets disturbed with her exam scores and cares about the number game and rank every time. Sakshi is an effortless, easy-going and a topper among the trio.

The conflict is about Sakshi and Huma’s score in midterm exams. The humor is either inspired or poor if original. The dead body sequence is a twist to the Munnabhai MBBS scene with a different take. The urine test joke is very cheap. The guidance to the canteen owner’s son is an effort to clean the images of the trio.

It’s really funny that a mobile app can help a medical aspirant to clear NEET who has never visited the college. The CPR performed in the fifth episode on an old man suffering from cardiac arrest is an exploited stereotype which heightens medical students to lifesavers. It has poor acting, stereotypes and brand advertisements enforced in all the episodes. The operation gets failed.

One of the positive things shown in the show is not giving a romantic angle to friendship. The doctors are saving lives of people during COVID 19 but they deserve a better tribute on their lives during MBBS.

The music given in the web series is very nice. The cinematographer has also done a good job with limited budget for visual appeal. The writing and shallow execution are damaging part of the web series
