The official trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s new web series as a producer Betaal is already out on the Internet. Beetal trailer was released by Netflix along with the statement “We’re equal parts afraid and excited. Okay, maybe a little more afraid.” Betaal web series star cast includes Aahana Kumra, Suchitra Pillai, Syna Anand, Manjali Pupala, Jitendra Joshi and Vineet Kumar in key roles.
The scary and nerve chilling web series is about a CIPD or Counter-Insurgency Police Department team who have been assigned to remove the curse of Betaal mountain by an East India Company Colonel and his blood-thirsty zombie redcoats battalion who threaten to end civilization and become havoc in the life of people.
The synopsis of Betaal as released officially is “The official synopsis of the series reads, “A remote village becomes the theatre of a breathless battle when a two-century-old Betaal, a British Indian Army officer, and his battalion of zombie redcoats are unleashed. With Indian police pitted against the undead army, hapless villagers are trapped in a horrific, edge-of-your-seat conflict.”
Betaal has been written, directed and created by Patrick Graham who has also filmed horror thriller Bard of Blood and Ghoul. The series is based on an Indian folklore. “The series has been shot extensively in India, especially in Mumbai, Lonavala and Khandala as it revolves around fictional Indian folklore, the series will definitely be genre-bending in terms of horror content with some incredible VFX and prosthetics work.”
The project is a collaboration of Netflix, SK Global, Red Chillies Entertainment and Blumhouse Productions which is known for Hollywood horror productions including Insidious and Paranormal Activity. Red Chillies has already given us Bard of Blood an irresponsible web series on Netflix and has Class of ‘83 lined up which stars Bobby Deol.
