Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has provided 25,000 PPE kits to frontline medical staff in Maharashtra for fighting against novel coronavirus in the state. Rajesh Tope, Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra said that the actor’s contribution will go a long way in helping the healthcare staff.
Tope tweeted “Many thanks Mr Shah Rukh Khan for your kind contribution of 25,000 PPE kits. This will go a long way in supporting our fight against COVID19 & protecting our frontline medical care team @iamsrk @MeerFoundation @CMOMaharashtra”.
The actor replied to the minister by saying that everyone should stand united for fighting against the pandemic. The actor tweeted “Thank you sir for all your help to source the kits. We are all together in this endeavour to protect ourselves and humanity. Glad to be of service. May your family and team be safe and healthy”.
The development happened weeks after it was announced that Shahrukh Khan’s NGO Meer Foundation will be supplying 50,000 PPE to healthcare officers in collaboration with West Bengal and Maharashtra governments.
The actor along with wife Gauri Khan has offered four-storey personal office space for treating COVID 19 patients. The star has earlier announced many initiatives to help the country during this period. The actor in collaboration with his other companies Red Chillies Entertainment, Red Chillies VFX and Kolkata Knight Riders will make donations to Maharashtra CM Relief Fund through the banner Red Chillies Entertainment.
Meer Foundation has tied up with Ek Saath – The Earth to provide daily food to more than 5500 families for a month in Mumbai. The NGO with Roti Foundation will provide 3 lakh meal kits to underprivileged people and daily wage labourers for a month in Mumbai and will support 100 acid attack victims in West Bengal, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
