Multiplex owners in Mumbai have decided to abide by the protest of few politicians and My Name is Khan is not going to release this Friday anywhere in Mumbai. This may lead to millions of losses and the fate of My name is Khan is under serious threat. The controversy started when Sharukh Khan made a statement that he wanted Pakistani players to play in IPL and it leads to severe violent protest by the political party Shiv Sena declaring not to allow screening of Sharukh new movie in Mumbai unless he apologizes.
Maharashtra government assured that full protection will be provided to multiplexes and film should release this Friday. 25% of the police force in Mumbai were deployed guarding various multiplexes to ensure the release of My Name is Khan. However none is willing to take a risk and possible property damages, as a result, multiplex owners gave up to the wills of few protesters. This is the darkest day and is a serious threat to freedom. Leave government apart if we can’t stand up for our own rights its a national shame. Sharukh Khan should be applauded for the fact that he refused to apologize to Shiv Sena or anyone else as he never said anything wrong. The actor has been under immense pressure and is having sleepless nights. Millions are in stake with the release of movie and one can imagine the state of mind he is in.
The least we can do for this greatest actor and a true Indian is to ensure that we don’t watch a pirated version of My Name is Khan on our DVDs and movie is enjoyed in multiplex only. Losses in Mumbai must be covered up by ensuring above expectations trade in other metros. Let’s hope that All Will be Well soon.
